Warner Mountain Toastmasters meets at 7:45 am Fridays at the Public Health Building, 441 North Main Street, Alturas. Entry through south door.

Modoc Economic Vitality Group meets third Tuesdays, 7:15 am at the Employment Center, 221 North Main Street, Alturas. A sharing of information and planning for the future with a group of business and government people and interested individuals.

Alturas Noon Rotary meets at noon Tuesdays at the Brass Rail Restaurant, Highway 299 East, Alturas.

Alturas Sunrise Rotary meets Thursdays at 7:00 AM at Antonio's Main Street, Alturas

Surprise Valley Rotary meets Wednesdays at the Community Church at 7:00 pm

Alturas Lions Club meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 7:00 pm, King Wah Restaurant, Highway 299 West, Alturas.

February 23. Crab Cioppino feed sponsored by Modoc District Fair. Dinner at 6:00 pm at the Fairgrounds in Cedarville. Tickets $30 each. Contact: Diana Milton, 279-6383

Till March 3. Alturas City Fire Department 97th Annual Fund Raiser. $2.00 donation tickets available from any City Fireman. Leave your porch light on and they will bring the tickets to you. Don't miss this very important fund raiser.

March 8 and 9. Friends of the Modoc County Library Fourth Annual Winter Gala at Historic Niles Hotel, Alturas. This fun-packed High Desert Home Companion presentation includes dinner, live entertainment, theme basket raffle, silent auction book sale. Saturday March 8 dinner at 7:00; Sunday March 9, dinner at 3:00. Tickets $30 each available at Modoc County Library. Contact: Cheryl Baker, 233-3640

March 29. Annual Surprise Valley Squirrel Roundup. Contests, dinner, and much more. Contact: Surprise Valley Chamber of Commerce, 279-2001, or www.surprisevalleychamber.org.

May 17th Modoc Children's Fair, at Modoc High School. This years theme is "Where the West is Fun". For Information call, Candace 233-7171 or Ginger 233-7119.

Fandango Days Schedule

July 3rd,  5 p.m. Grand Opening of Disc Golf Course at Warner and 8th streets.  Check out the course, hear music, and enjoy a snack of hot dogs, chips, and soda to celebrate the new recreation site in Alturas.

July 4th.   Friday,   Disc Golf Tournament sponsored by Modoc Parks and Recreation District.   Individuals play starts at 10 a.m. with team play to follow.  $5 per individual or $20 per team. Register at the site, Warner and 8th streets before starting time. Trophies for winners. Grand prize is one night stay at Cedarville Hot Springs.

July 4th, Friday at 4 p.m. GPS (geocache)  Treasure Hunt in Alturas.   $5  Registration fee per team.  Prizes are a basket of home baked goodies. Meet at the locomotive at the Veteran’s Park to register before 4 p.m. An explanation for beginners will be given at 3:30 p.m.

July 5th,  Saturday,  Loop Bike Ride around Modoc Wildlife Refugee,  begins at 8:30 a.m. Register from 8 a.m. on.  Registration fee $10 adult, $5 teen and one dollar under 12 years old includes having a picture taken of each participant before the ride. 

August 8th and 9th Arrowhead Ladies Club Golf Tournament

August 16th Alturas Poker Run, Harley-Davidson's and all other big bikes.

   Sponsored by the Alturas City Fire Department

   $25.00 entry Fee, Tee Shirt Included

   Pancake Breakfast 7-9 am $6.00
   BBQ & dance at 6 pm at Alturas Elks Lodge $12.00

September 20th The Wings of the Warners Migratory Bird Festival at the Veterans Park in Alturas from 9:00 am until 3:00 am
